ABOUT THE ARTIST
Singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist; Wumbaya brings to the stage his niche compositions of tropical reggae and folkrock music along with unique renditions of various other influences from a journey inspired by music, movement, nature and culture.
As a one man band he simultaneously plays guitars, vocals, harmonicas, hand crash and tambourine and kick drum; also collaborating with featured artists internationally.
His releases include the album Jive Tribe and the singles Maisha Iko Sawa and Shakalaka Wagon.

NOTES FROM THE JOURNEY
Multi-instrumentalist, Wumbaya has travelled, collaborated with and entertained people from across the world. Inspired by a love for nature and travel, his unique renditions and multi-genre influences culminated in the nine track debut album, Jive Tribe (re-release scheduled) and two Singles, 'Maisha Iko Sawa' and 'Shakalaka Wagon' reflecting on a rare artist collective trip in Cambodia.
Throughout his school and college years, Wumbaya explored various sides of performing arts through dance musical theatre productions such as 'Making Waves', 'Hair', 'Fiddler on The Roof',
Having acquired a degree in legal studies and quitting his job within months in 2010, he began travelling and has performed in most states in India where he`s met and learnt from diverse music and culture.
In 2012, his restaurant in Ladakh, Cafe Nirvana offered a multi cuisine experience merged with live music and other outdoor art experiences nurturing timeless bonds amongst fellow travellers.

In 2020, Wumbaya cycled from Delhi to Tamil Nadu over two months spanning over two thousand kilometres, without any phone and money. Having tasted the kindness and generosity of rural India he has been busy sharing the story of his incredible journey to intimate audiences ever since, interspersed with his travel songs.
