Wumbaya explores nature and culture through music and travel. In the process, he has worn many hats as a lawyer, restaurateur, actor, dancer, musician, composer, producer, band leader, sound vendor, poet, writer and a gypsy.

 

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Wumbaya is known for his unique and versatile playlist of reggae and folkrock music covering a wide range of artists and genres with his guitars, vocals and harmonicas both as a one man band and music collective.

He plays rhythm guitars, harmonicas and vocals and also performs as a one man band adding a cajon and a hand crash to his setup. His repertoire includes folk, rock and reggae music as well as inspiration from soul, blues, jazz and grunge.

 

His debut nine track album is an ethereal blend of the subtleties of classical instruments with contemporary folk, rock, rhythm, and lyrics. In 2021 his latest singles titled 'Shakalaka Wagon' and 'Maisha Iko Sawa' explored the essence of roots reggae and acoustic folk.

 

Wumbaya performed at the Goa Open Arts Festival in (Goa 2024); Ten10 Loka Fest, Hibiscus Festival and Vegan Festival in (Auroville 2021) and has previously performed at various festivals including Asian Hawkers Market, Ragadub Festival, November Rain Festival, Outback Festival, etc. across India.

In October 2020, Wumbaya embarked on an unprecedented adventure with a co-traveller, cycling across India over 2300 kilometres from Delhi to Tamil Nadu while exploring the kindness, generosity and culture of rural India over sixty one days.
